Week 7 – 18/1/21

I cannot believe we have been here for 7 weeks – time has flown.

The week kicked off with my radio interview. It was also with a lady from Euronews weekly so luckily I only got a bit of airtime. It is very worrying listening to yourself on radio and realising how you sound – apparently I sound quite posh.

This week revolved around trying to get my partner an INR blood test for his warfarin dose. The first appointment in Mijas turned out to be a waste of time. It was at a clinic to check his bloods and they told him he had to go to a clinic to have his bloods done – very confusing.

Anyway, we managed to find another one who did it on the spot and all was ok. One worry gone.

Bad news for the house search though – more areas closed in Malaga area. We can no longer view in Coin or Alhaurin – rules are more than 500 covid cases per 100000 population.

I had my police appointment today so was fingerprinted. It was a cold day to the lady in the police station struggled to get an impression but we got there in the end. Final stage is now to come back 50 days later to collect ID card. It seems a long drawn out process but is probably just as bad for people wanting residency in the UK.

Back to online house hunting. The rental on this place is now for less than 4 months so it is looking more and more that we may have to rent again. This time I hope it will be further down a mountain – especially of we are here until winter. The roads to travel down to Algarrabo or Torrox are windy and narrow with very little protection in most places for going off the edge – scary.

Doing bits and pieces of work for my old boss – keeps some pennies trickling in so hopefully will carry on for a while. Been thinking about the possibility of a small mortgage to boost our budget, but on the positive side there is a general feeling that some prices may drop due to the new travel restrictions for long stays from the UK and people being broke due to Covid. Not nice to profit from other peoples misfortune, but all in a good cause.

The animals have all settled in well – the cats are coming and going all day from the early hours of the morning to around 9pm through the makeshift catflap we have made at the window. They have not managed to get out of the wired fence compound yet thank heavans. They are brought in at night as there is a stray cat around – known locally as nasty cat – that does know how to get into the compound. There have already been a few altrications in the early evening between nasty cats and ours. The dogs are just doing their usual dog thing. Our dobie has decided the log pile is his own personal stick pile and fetches new ones constatntly for us to play with him.
