The house is on the market – happily for more than we originally thought. It will hopefully give us the money we need to be mortgage free in our new journey in Spain. Our friends house is also on the market.
It is not long before we have viewings, and an offer. Less than the asking price but a fair offer and apparently in a position to proceed quickly.
The next think is to tell my boss …. he took it ok, although I do not believe he thought it would actually happen. Our son is sorted and reasnably settled in his new job – still on training at the moment – but ultimately he will be moving out permanently. Selling the house will be a good thing for him as we plan to give him a deposit to buy his own place.
Lots or research is being done regarding the journey to Spain. pet passports alone have to be obtained – warning to others – shop around and don’t assume you should use your own vet. Our vet, the one we have used for 20 years, quoted £275 for each of our 3 cats and for our dog for the passport and rabies jabs. Our friends paid £100 each for their 2 dogs at Leigh Cats and Dogs home, so I reregistered all of ours and had them done there.
The journey to Leigh from Liverpool was an adventure in itself. I persuaded a very good friend to help me with the 3 cats and doberman and it was a good job. We put the cats in their cat carriers on the back seat of the car, and the dog in the boot. We had only travelled a few miles from home and on a busy road the dog decided to jump over the back seat onto the cat carriers – nightmare. We had to pull over and put the dog on the back seat and the cats in the boot. The rest of the journey was spent with my friend trying to get stop the dog trying to get in the front with us. Luckily the journey home was not as bad!
Next thing we need to do is find a place to stay in Spain that will accept 3 dogs and 3 cats and we can afford. My partner and my friends husband cannot go and look as we cannot afford the time off to quarantine on our return home, so my partner and my friend are dispatched off to Costa del Sol to find us somewhere to stay …
